In a time of great economic uncertainty, it has been more important than ever for businesses to be agile and ready to adapt to the many sporadic market changes. For many businesses, Covid-19 has meant that an increased focus on being resilient to the many challenges through the use of robust tools that will help them become more efficient and grow in the future will be key to success. With an ERP system, especially during Covid-19, businesses have been able to take advantage of the many digital solutions that allow remote working while ensuring transparency to minimise errors.<\/p>\n

With an ERP implementation, companies have been able to continue their digital transformation journey, increasing their digital maturity so that they are ready for new market changes when they come. Because one thing is certain: They will come!<\/p>\n

A concern for many has been that the actual implementation of an IT project would be impossible to manage without a physical presence. Yet the past year has shown that this is not necessarily the case and that even complex projects, such as ERP implementations, can be done without a physical presence. Or at least a large part of it. Of course, it's not without some adjustments when a project needs to be managed virtually. There are some key points that both the project manager and the company need to be aware of.<\/p>\n

    A digital mindset<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The digital mindset has become a necessity for many businesses, primarily to adapt to the homeworking that Covid-19 has brought to many, but this should not be the only and certainly not the primary reason. A primary reason to continue working on digital transformation, however, should be to keep up with the many opportunities that technology brings and that are constantly changing. Having employees with a digital mindset not only ensures positivity towards new technologies, but also helps to ensure quick adaptation of new processes and workflows. These employees therefore also play a crucial role in the success of a digital 100% implementation, which is why companies should promote these employees throughout the organisation and make targeted use of their knowledge, skills and willingness to engage so that all departments have digital talent to act as change agents.<\/p>\n

      Ensuring you have the right collaboration tools<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      At Curit, we prioritise being on the same wavelength as our customers. When a project is to be fully or partially digital, it is important that the right digital tools are chosen so that everyone involved can successfully complete the project. This includes communication and collaboration tools to facilitate virtual meetings, training and planning, as well as knowledge sharing between the company and Curit, as well as within the company itself. These tools, which act as a hub for both consultants and customers, must be intuitive to use. If the correct technical framework is available from the start of the project, stakeholders can fully concentrate on their tasks and ensure a stable delivery throughout the project.<\/p>\n

        Training to meet online<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        Using the right tools for virtual working, meetings, training and workshops can all be implemented remotely without any problems. However, our experience tells us that successful virtual training depends a lot on employees' digital skills and willingness to use the tools. An ERP implementation is a big change for a company and therefore there is a lot of learning for employees, which is why we would recommend that education and training is primarily held in person unless employees have good skills and desire to use digital tools. When training sessions are held in front of the screen, it is important that they are short, precise and with regular breaks planned in advance of the day. In addition, it is important that everyone has a good knowledge of the platform being used prior to the project to ensure its effective utilisation.<\/p>\n

          Close collaboration and frequent communication is the focus<\/strong><\/h5>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          A lack of face-to-face meetings creates a greater need for continuous, close communication between the parties involved. In order to coordinate a project and resolve any challenges as they arise, it's important that key people have each other on speed dial so that issues are resolved immediately and everyone can move forward with the project. Even with an effective timeline and structure in place, it's important to back this up with a reliable relationship built on regular, honest communication. Organising regular video conferences, where project stakeholders might even get a glimpse into each other's lives, can also create a more personal relationship that helps to improve trust. Last but not least, we've learnt how important it is to remember to turn the camera on when talking to each other. This is especially true when it's a 100% virtual deployment, as this helps create a stronger relationship with each other.<\/p>\n
