Shared insights into PSO

The other day, colleagues at Curit had a day of insight and inspiration when our service consultant, Julie, presented an overview of the countless possibilities that the PSO in IFS offers. There were plenty of questions, because it's obvious that the tool has potential, and we agreed that we've only seen the beginning of its applications.

PSO, short for Planning and Scheduling Optimisation, isn't just a planning tool; it's an advanced technology that uses artificial intelligence to simplify and optimise planning processes for businesses in a way that was previously unthinkable.

Streamlining route planning with PSO at KEN

A concrete example of how the PSO can be used can be found at KEN Hygiene Systems, where they have implemented PSO to help optimise route planning for their service technicians. For KEN, route planning is a complex task as there are a multitude of factors to consider. This includes prioritising tasks based on the importance of their execution, the skills of employees, customer opening hours and preferences, availability of spare parts, and the costs associated with technician transportation. PSO analyses these variables and generates an optimal route with the order of the day's visit locations for the technicians.

Endless customisation options

One of the most impressive aspects of PSO is its flexibility and customisation options. For example, a cost factor can be added, which means that the task must have a higher value than otherwise before the employee is assigned the task across the Great Belt Bridge.

Revolutionising business planning

PSO represents a revolution in enterprise planning by offering an intelligent and flexible approach to optimising complex planning processes. With its potential to adapt to the specific needs of businesses and handle a wide range of reservations, PSO opens the door to a world of efficiency and productivity.

Don't have a service business? Then read on anyway

PSO is designed to optimise a company's service business, but as one of the latest developments, IFS has adapted the technology so that it can also be used for production planning in the IFS Cloud. Specifically, the ’Advanced Planning Board’ tool will be powered by artificial intelligence via the PSO engine as an IT backbone.

Advanced Planning Board in production

Advanced Planning Board plans production by integrating advanced optimisation and real-time data analysis. This tool offers dynamic and visually clear planning, enabling faster and more accurate adaptation to changes in production and demand. Its advanced technology supports companies' need for flexibility in planning, improves productivity and enhances rapid response to market changes, making it valuable as a key tool in efficient business operations.
