On 1 July 2024, the requirements for all Danish companies will change significantly as a new time registration law comes into effect. It's important to note that while the law requires accurate registration, it's up to the individual company to decide the method - this can include both digital solutions and manual registration. In this light, the IFS ERP system is presented as an optimal solution that can complement existing processes and ensure legal compliance while improving efficiency. Choosing IFS ensures effortless and reliable access to time tracking from any type of device, giving companies unlimited flexibility and ensuring constant synchronisation without interruptions. This enhancement strengthens an organisation's ability to effectively navigate time tracking requirements with greater certainty and adaptability.

The existing labour legislation in Denmark
Denmark's labour laws have long been rooted in the protection of workers' rights, as shown in the following key points:
- The 48-hour rule: Ensures that employees do not work more than 48 hours per week on average over a four-month period.
- The 11-hour rule: Guarantee that employees have 11 consecutive hours of rest within a 24-hour period.
- Weekly day off: Establishes that employees are entitled to at least one day off per week.
Specific requirements in the new legislation
As a direct result of the EU ruling in 2019, time recording requirements will be tightened and clarified from 1 July 2024, with the aim of improving the protection of workers' rights by introducing:
- Accurate and reliable detection: Companies in EU member states, including Danish companies, must implement a system for accurate and reliable recording of working hours that can be measured on a daily basis.
- Enforcement of working time rights: All employees in member states should be able to enforce their rights to maximum working hours and rest periods through this system. Employees should be able to access this information themselves.
- Accessibility for control: The system must be accessible to control bodies to ensure compliance with the requirements of the directive. This includes storing the data for 5 years.
These requirements emphasise the importance of a flexible and reliable time tracking system that can be customised to your specific needs and processes.

IFS as the solution to time tracking requirements
With IFS, companies get access to a flexible and customised system that can act as a complement or extension to existing ERP systems. IFS’ solution includes:
- Come/go registration: Provides a simple and accurate method for recording arrival and departure times. The system can be easily integrated with different time tracking devices and platforms, such as biometric scanners, mobile apps and devices. This flexibility allows companies to choose the solutions that best suit their unique needs and work environment.
- Automation of standard times with deviation detection: Automates general time tracking and allows employees to only need to note deviations.
- Registration of working hours on specific activities: Improves transparency and provides insight into how working hours are spent.
- Dashboard and automatic reports: With IFS's real-time dashboard, managers and HR departments have access to up-to-date data on working hours, making it easier to monitor compliance with working time regulations. The system also automatically generates reports that can be used for internal audits or as documentation during inspections.
- Employee portal: An employee portal allows employees to access and monitor their recorded working hours themselves, increasing transparency and contributing to a culture of trust and accountability.
These features, along with advanced follow-up tools such as email notifications and integration to payroll systems, support a streamlined process from time tracking to payroll to documentation of registration.
